Let's see pictures of the wall from the unfinished side.

It's not the wood studs and drywall holding up the floor above. There must be a steel beam and columns hidden inside the wall that's holding up the floor above.

I agree with Beverly. You most likely have a steel I beam there. If so, you should be able to remove the drywall and studs to open up to a future bar. Your height at the I-beam will be lower. You could box it in.

No metal beam that we can see. Here is the best picture that I could get before leaving for work, as this is the unfinished side it has a bunch of stuff there!

What is the HVAC like for the whole? You cannot open unconditioned space up to conditioned. Nor can you open up a load bearing wall without adding support.

There is duct work for HVAC through the whole basement. I am not sure of the right terminology, but the part in the unfinished side is “capped”.

Keeping looking. That wall is not supporting your home. You're looking for something that looks more like this. Any wall below that is just to divide the space and doesn't support the structure.

Who told you the wall is load bearing?

A load bearing wall in a basement is no different than a load bearing wall upstairs. And those upstairs walls certainly have windows, doorways, and openings in them. You can do the same by adding a header/beam, if it is in fact load bearing. You have the expense of adding a bar; adding a necessary header/beam is just another expense.

So there is 100% no metal beam or post anywhere. There is a small wood beam further over in the basment. But not on this wall. Maybe this isnt load bearing. The house inspector is the one who told us it was. Above this wall on the main floor is the great room with 18’ ceiling. Hmmm - sounds like unless we contact a S.E. to know for sure, we will just leave it alone. Thanks everyone for looking.
