LG washer keeps going into remote mode

Our 13 month old (LOL, do they design them to fail after 12?) LG washer will not finish a cycle. The strange thing is it keeps illuminating the remote light, gets down to about ten minutes if we try rinse and spin (just to try to finish off the wash) and then just hangs.

I did an unplug and replug to do a reset. It looked like it was going to function when I set it back to a full cycle. However, it ran all the way down to 15 minutes and threw a "UE" error. On attempting a rinse and spin again to at least get the water out of the clothes, it is now insisting on remote again.

If I cancel remote mode manually, as soon as I hit the "go" button again, the remote light reappears!

Simply powering off and on again still leaves the remote light illuminated.

Any idea what is going on?

What does the manual say? I assume you'd have to turn the Wi-Fi off?

Well, turning it off is a matter of pressing and holding the "pre wash" button for three seconds, but as soon as I hit "go", it turns itself back on. It maybe just a side effect, the problem seems to be that it gets to 10 minutes which I assume is the beginning of spin, and just sits there doing nothing. I tried a long wash cycle and also, it got to spin and just stopped.

Really not what I was expecting for a 13 month old machine.

OK, the above "not spinning" is a red harring. THE UE error was simply telling us that the load was imbalanced. Given that it was a heavy bathroom rug and little else, running at high spin speed it is probably not surprising. This morning I successfully ran three speed wash cycles, all went o completion even though the remote light was lit and could not be turned off.

Was this light always on, and we just never noticed? Seems unlikely, since there would be no ned for a remote off button (even though it appears to not work!).

The remaining question is why did rinse and spin get to 10 minutes and just stop prior to the spin? We tried it several times yesterday always with the same result.
