Dining Room Ideas Please!

I’m redoing my entire dining room. It is an all white room with two main walls.

I’ve recently purchased two vintage items for the room but don’t want too much vintage otherwise, to avoid it looking like it’s directly out of the 80’s.

There is NOTHING online with the type of look I’m targeting. I do not want anything MCM.

My vibe is post-modern and modern but I want to incorporate new items with these two pieces that I’m bringing in. The room will be all neutral and leads into an earthy post-modern room with a white Vladimir Kagan couch, a walnut stained oak 80’s coffee table, lots of plants and a natural stone credenza.

Any ideas on rugs? Light fixtures? Art? Mirrors? Storage/ China cabinets etc?

I want the feel of post-modern but in updated earthy tones to make it less cartoonish and more cozy.

(The chairs are either being replaced or getting recovered in a neutral beige/tan fabric such as tweed or boucle, haven’t decided)

It's easier to give feedback and ideas once the items are in the room - I think the light fixture will be important, what are you leaning toward?

I’ve come to realize that the style I’m targeting is called “Organic Modern” if that helps?

I'd keep it very simple, I wouldn't introduce a rug, mirror or any more furniture.

a piece of art and a great light fixture is all you need with the two new pieces.

Do you have an existing light fixture? is the electrical box directly above where you intend to place the new dining table? I'd like to see the room you plan to use... and what is next to it.

although each piece is interesting, I think they'd look better in a dining room if they were the same color. I personally would denature the dining set to lighten it up. and dull the sheen.

For lighting fixtures- I’m not sure what to put above it but I do have an electric box directly above where it will go with a small chandelier that will not fit the scale and which I plan to replace ASAP.

The room itself is bare at the moment, just medium toned wood flooring and white walls, so I can put whatever I want in it.

The idea of denaturing the sheen is brilliant!

I can't see all the walls in the dining area, but, could you do an accent wall in blue (keeping the chairs as is)?

Do this to the sideboard:

You could use something like pole wrap. This is from Amazon.

Some wonderful art from the late 1800's for your wall...but I love this one for your room.

You might try incorporating the blue from the chairs with some artwork that contains the same blue and a rug that also contains the same blue. Please see a few images from our design portfolio for more ideas.
