The blue is much nicer and adds a contrast to the brown leather chairs. The brown one is kind of boring.

Have you considered a coffee table instead? Something that doesn’t feel so heavy. Do you need all of this in your office space? What is the purpose for all of this seating?

Neither.

The brown chairs are rather large for the area, so I would re-arrange them and not put any more furniture in that area.

Eeek. Sorry, but it looks like both of these scenarios. It sounds like this furniture is more for looks than actual use. Is this where your left over furniture goes because you don't want to donate it or sell it on Craiglist?

Do you ever have three people sitting in here? Do you ever have more than one? The bobbin-spindle chair looks great with the rest of the space. The two double chocolate brownies are really cumbersome and out of place.

Keep the one bobbin chair. Get a nice little drink/book table for next to it. A matching ottoman if you'd like. One chair here seems fine to me. It is ok to have so much less going on in the space.

You could split the difference, and use the brown ottoman and put a blue throw on it. That would look tailored and cohesive. You could use a solid blue throw, or bring in some of your other colors with a patterned throw.

Endless styling possibilities! And very easy to change it up, when you want another look.

Neither. Too much furniture in there. Looks like you have to go thru a maze to get to the desk. And no where to sit because the pillows are saying 'Don't sit here.'

I would get rid of all the chairs in there and go shopping for a matched pair of comfy chairs that look inviting to sit in

Feels quite choked up with seating......what is the purpose of the heavy brown leather and what is all of it facing? It isn't facing you at the desk?

Before deciding on either, are you interested in another floor plan? Desk centered on left wall and chairs moved to window area will make more sense with them looking into the room and near piano. Place cream chair closer to wall and angle more towards window and by separation, it won’t overwhelm/feel as awkward.

Then see how much space you have and maybe a small table between the chairs is enough. If you want an ottomon to rest your feet on, consider what shape/size will work best. Color wise, suggest working with cushions and drapery.

No matter the layout, suggest more if a rusty shade.

With all the peach/orange in the room, I'm not sure why you decided to introduce blue into the room.

If you changed the rug to one that was a more bold design IMO that would balance the strong, large brown chairs.

The spindle chairs and blue ottoman are SO much nicer than the brown ones and brown ottoman! The whole room feels lighter.

I’d return the spindle chairs, given the brown chairs are more comfortable and that was important to you. Take your time to find the perfect chairs - style/low/color/comfort wise and perhaps even swivel and watch for sales.

You said you have other places to lounge, I’d go with the spindle chairs for this room. My answer might be a bit biased, as I’ve been looking for something similar for a bedroom. :D

But seriously, I like the style they bring to the room. And having sat in many, I’ve not found them to be uncomfortable.

I really like the stripes, and blue and rust are complimentary colors. They look better with the rug, too.

Beverly (why can’t I tag on this board anymore?!) … I know you’re just showing rugs as examples, but I wanted to share that I ordered the first one for when my dad was building his house. It’s very faded in person.

I’ve ordered numerous rugs for myself and clients and never had one so different from online as that one. They really ramped up the saturation for the photos. It also has more of an all-over grayish feel than tan.

I wanted to return it, but he liked it, and still has it. Looks better now with the rust sectional we found and other rugs nearby.
