I think you have ended on a very scandi look, which is a bad look! Retaining the light color would be good, so maybe a wax finish rather than stain? I’m no finish expert,so it might take some research to find the best technique.

Hahaha i was very confused. i like the simplicity but unsure if it looks right with the doors etc. i strongly considered keeping the vanity the natural look but idk.

Either stain it to match the doors or paint it the same color as the wainscot (as long as that color looks right with the countertop). While light wood is "in" I don't think it looks right with the darker doors.

A black frame around your mirror would look out of place in this color scheme. Would suggest you consider a white frame to match the wainscot.

While I love how natural red oak looks - I don’t think it would work with your doors. Unless you want to paint those the same color as your board and batten = lots of work). what color did you originally paint it?

What is the name of the green paint you used?

The wall color is retreat SW and the trim and wainscoat is lightened swiss coffee BM. i started the vanity swiss coffee then moved to a greige. i was originally thinking to paint it iron ore by Sw. here is a picture of when i painted it. i think it makes the almond color coutners look more dated.

I would paint the vanity Swiss Coffee and add black pulls.

I like it. If you paint the vanity white, it will only emphasize the almond counters. I would leave it and try to bring in some art that will tie in those colors.

Have you decided what to do re: vanity?

I’m not sure where you live - but many places have prefab countertops that are not very expensive. Also, there are many fabricators that have ”grave yards” where they have a lot of pieces of leftover counterops from other jobs. Typically you can receive a really great deal on those pieces because they are just taking up space.

I think that it would make a HUGE difference if you changed the countertop. I think that it’s very difficult to finalize the update of the bathroom while keeping the countertop.

However, I understand that it may not be possible to buy a new countertop (+ you’d have to buy a couple sinks). Have you tried using SW paint app where you can try colors on the vanity? It’s not perfect - but it may give you an idea.

I have thought that maybe a black (maybe SW Tricorn? - many people use that color) would work - then you could do the black frame around the mirror + you have the black door handles/hinges/light fixture.

Also, maybe there are some posts on here that could help. I know that I’ve read posts where people wind up with whites that don’t match - and one turns out to have WAY too much yellow in it - and they’ve received help on how to ”fix” the issue without tearing out one of the surfaces (for example, the new kitchen cabinets pull yellow and the new countertop is very white). Maybe if you search for some of those posts, you might get some ideas.

It’s weird on Houzz - some posts will receive a ton of activity - while others won’t. Sometimes there’s an obvious reason why (example - no photos added). However, other times there seems to be no difference between the posts.

I’m going to see if I can find a couple people who are good at this and see if they will hop over here and take a look.

Dani you are amazing thank you for the tips. im sitting on the of new countertops but will definately get new faucets soon. this is where i am at right now until i can continue to move forward. i ended up staining it.
