What is the proposed new cabinet finish? Wood changes color as it ages, and so does paint. How much do you really want a paneled DW?

You have homework to do before you can make a decision. What is the potential new DW? Have you read the specs of the old and the new, to see if the DW panel is the same? If not the same, what is the difference? What about going ahead and ordering a panel that fits the new DW now, and keep it out, so the paint or wood will age the same as the rest of the kitchen? Many people do that, so that when the old panel gets water damaged, they have a panel ready to swap to.

I'm all for saving money, but a dishwasher is, what - $1500? This is not where I would cut corners. I reused an old Sub Zero in my new kitchen knowing that when it fails, I'll have the extra cost of getting new panels made. But that saved me $12,000 and a year + of waiting.

The term for this is penny wise, pound foolish.

Since you have it, stick it by your bar if you have one. Or sell it back on Facebook marketplace. You don't even know if it works.

Dishwasher panels are universal- ikea makes panels that fit any dishwasher because the size of the panel is determined by the adjacent cabinets- in most cases a hair less than 24” wide and 30” tall. I wouldn’t put in a fifteen year old dishwasher but it’s not the biggest risk in the world especially if you are doing the work yourselves. If it dies you remove the existing mounting bracket and install the mounting hardware for the new model

The guy who sold an 18-year-old dishwasher for $150.00 did really well.
