Pictures may help as glass is not typically "warped" from my 40 years in the business. What do you mean by "fabrication debris"? Why does one guy install the frame and another furnish and install the glass?

“Fabricating debris” refers to abrasive microscopic defects, including glass fines, which may become fused to heat treated glass as it contacts rollers in some tempering furnaces.

If debris is left on the glass when it enters the tempering furnace, those fine particles fuse onto the glass surface. The debris becomes a permanent part of the glass itself that won't simply wash off. Then later, when the window cleaner scrapes the glass, it removes the defect and causes scratched glass.

Millworkman - The frame guy specializes in all things steel. When he makes window frames, he has his own glass guy install the glass. However, these frames required a specific size glass, so he found someone that could do it.

Millworkman - after the windows were complete, we hired a window cleaner. they did not use any sharp tools, but informed us that the glass was severely scratched. After much research, we discovered the scratching is due to fabrication debris on the glass. we are unable to clean the glass without them being scratched each time. i’m surprised you haven’t heard of this as it’s sometimes an issue in the industry.

My questions were concerning warping and fabrication debris, so i don’t know why i need to give the details of how thd frames were built. Frame guy and glass guy discussed how they would install it. Glass guy didnt seal it properly.

How large are the individual glass lites in the steel frame?

Also are you sure that the glass was tempered?

Like milworkman said, pictures might be very helpful even if difficult to see the warp. A close up picture of the scratches might be helpful. If you can place a straight edge against the glass might help to show the warp in a picture.

How the frame was built and installed might help in determining on why the window is leaking.

By your own admission you have been at this for a while so I must ask why you haven't took action against "glass guy"? Is it because "frame guy"was primary contractor,glass guy was frame guy's sub and frame guy is too nice to hold accountable? IDK how your state is but in Texas it costs $100-$300 to take this through small claims who can award up to $20k damages. We see this a lot here where unlicensed,non-insured and inexperienced people are hired leaving buyer no means of recourse if job fails. We couldn't make it better if a gun was to our head and as for your questions ,you already know windows are defective. As I see it you have 4 choices #1 Sue them #2 Sling them around by the hair on their head until they fix it or leave town #3 Chalk it up as an expensive lesson on taking bids and hire responsible contractor to do it over. #4 Do nothing,stop crying and move on with life.

I am wondering why you didnt have a custom window completely made in a factory and have it installed. Makes no sense to fabricate a window, and expect it to be water tight.
