Getting a shock from rug on deck

I put an outdoor rug on our Trex deck, right outside the sliding glass doors, to capture dirt, etc., before coming into the house. We are getting a mild shock when we touch the handle to the Pella sliding glass door. I removed the rug and no more shocks. Has anyone else experienced this with their deck rugs? Any suggestions on how to prevent this and still have a rug?
