what coating should i use to protect painting?

Hi all,
I bought a ceramic cookie jar and dropped the lid. After gluing it together I painted it to mask the repairs, with a combination of nail polish and Testors paints. Now, I would like to coat it, so that the painting is protected. Any suggestions as to what I might use?
Any help is appreciated.

Actually, in this case.....use more nail-polish! It would work very well for this!!

I have done quite a bit of ceramic repairs and use Dupli-Color DA1692 Multi-Purpose Acrylic Enamel Spray Paint Crystal Clear Gloss or Matte depending on the finish I was looking for.

Introduced to it from an auto detailer.
