Such a nice room, not sure what you’re planning for the panels but personally I would skip that for now and focus on the other room elements - if it were me, I would curate the room a bit more and move out the smaller decorative pieces. (corner shelf/frames, floor vase etc) Then I’d get the rug and furniture to where you’re happy - the photo isn’t well lit so it’s hard to give advice on colors with the chair

ETA - oops I realized that the "floor vase" is actually a vase on the coffee table - so just ignore that lol

Hi. How about Monet's Water Lilies or another selection of Impressionist paintings. There are many great reproductions of these online for purchase. Panels and ones on canvas. The room looks great. I would add some color behind the couch.

I also think you should skip the “panels“. This is an Instagram fad that is overdone by people with plain square walls with no doors or windows who don’t have great home features like your lovely vaulted ceilings.

Are the panels you are talking about those blue-taped frames above the couch? They’re taped too high and they’re much too big. Don’t decorate above your head - those are placed higher than your windows and way taller than that doorway!

I agree with removing the little furnishings and doodads. More is not necessarily better.

First off - it's a great room. Awesome size and love the large windows. Like others, I would dispense with any type of paneling. Am not the biggest fan of accent walls but, in this case, the wall behind the sofa might be a good candidate for that. If you don't want to make it an accent wall I would certainly suggest some large and dramatic artwork. You could pick artwork that picks up the colors of your furniture and decor or go the opposite direction and pick up colors in the artwork for your furniture and decor. Good luck!

There is nothing wrong with your walls. Molding is not the answer. Your sofa looks contemporary. I like the pillows. The chair by the window looks like a different style. As the other commenters have said, spend your time and money by sharpening up the rest of the rest of the room. If you want more suggestions about the room, post some more pictures taken from different angles. I can't get a good fix on anything based on what you've posted so far since you were focusing on the wall.

So many new open concept homes lack good wall space. Make the most of yours and hang large art, gallery groupings and/or collections.

Big NO for the panel idea for your space.

Art is subjective, so none of these are right or wrong ... just what the individual and unique homeowners enjoy.

Thank you all great comments. Agree, I'm removing the panels. I just relocated to this area and decided to change the decor. So at this point I a mix of furniture styles. I really want to keep this chair…. Thanks again, clearly I have a lot of work.

It doesn't look like you need the panels. You can easily just do 1-2 pieces of artwork over the sofa. See some of the artwork we've used in other designs for our clients:
