There is a forum here - Name That Plant - that deals specifically with plant identification and is frequented by some very knowledgeable individuals that can ID just about anything and with amazing speed!! Be sure to provide a geographic location (zones are meaningless) and as much leaf and branch detail as you can.

The tree looks like a Royal Poinciana to me. Strange about the no flowers. Should not drop leaves. Maybe a Jacaranda??

Both Jacaranda and Royal Poinciana have doubly pinnate foliage which the pictured tree doesn't appear to have.

I found leaves from Earpod tree and trunk similar but no pods...no flowers. :-((

There is a faux mimosa that doesn’t produce flowers or “puffs”.

I have an iPhone and I’ll take pics of flowers and trees on a hike. The phone will then identify the foliage and provide links, like Wikipedia, to learn more.

Again, although phones can id some straight forward things they are not particularly reliable. They can produce ridiculous results on similar looking foliage for example. The user cannot tell if the id is correct.

I don't know what species is meant by 'false mimosa'. The only tree I can find under that name in Google is Albizia julibrissin, which most definitely does produce flowers and has doubly pinnate foliage.

Nope. That one is also doubly pinnate, which OP's tree is not, as far as I can discern from the pictures. Better photos really would help.
