Please help with paint color.

We just bought a home and are moving in a month. I’d like to paint before we move to avoid the mess. I can live with the green color throughout most of the house but don’t love it. I really hate the orange paint in the master bathroom and it has to go immediately. I thought I could choose a paint scheme for the whole house but I’m overwhelmed. Please help!

    More pics of the house

    Congrats on your new home.

It is hard to get someone to come paint just a bathroom. I'd try to pull together a scheme for as many rooms as possible. Can you post pics of what your furniture looks like? Are there any colors you gravitate towards?

Can you tell us home many rooms there are and how many are open spaces vs fully contained rooms with a door you can close. How many stories tall?

I'd do a bluish grey in your bedroom because it will be nice with the red undertones in the wood wall. I'd pull a color from the bathroom accent tile to paint over the orange. It looks like there is a silver sage in there perhaps.

I think the style would be modern rustic..

Thanks Kendrah! This is the real estate listing pics and the furniture comes with the house. It is currently an Airbnb. I love blues and grays but not sure if that will work with the rest of the home. It has a hunter green exterior door and garage door. It has a cedar exterior and is one story. I’ll include some pics of the exterior as well

If the floors are staying, you can't ignore them; it's where you go to get paint colors.

Using the floor(s) as the jumping off point to inform paint color choices results in a cohesive, neutral envelope to move your stuff into.

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, cathedral ceiling, lots of windows and light and house is open floor plan.

The floors are staying Lori and I love neutral calming colors. Thank goodness the floors are neutral!

Amazing! So, you've got nothin' but blue skies. 🌈☀️

If you have samples of the flooring, I'd gather those up and take them to a professional paint store.

Or can always order a NIX Mini 3 and measure the floors yourself at home. If you want to do that, I can tell ya how.

Thanks Lori! There is extra flooring at the house. I like the idea of taking the samples to a paint store. I’m at my old home in another state presently and will be at the new home next week. I feel the house has plenty of color with the woodwork and that neutral paint colors will flow better. 😀

Perfect. They can measure the floors there and direct you to a range of neutrals that align with the colors in the flooring. Don't forget to get samples, just don't paint them on the wall.

Thanks so much for your help Lori! Good advice on working with the flooring. I believe there is a Benjamin Moore store there as well. Now I can see a path to move forward. 😀

This is a big job,but I would start by removing some of the brown lines..painting the ceiling beams and window trims to match their surroundings ..as is they just distract the eye from the architectural features ..

In the areas like the kitchen

Do you have enough time and can you afford to paint the entire house now before you move in? If not, I'd:

    1 primary bedroom color

1 color for both the other bedrooms

    1 for primary bath

    1 for second bathroom

1 color for the main space and kitchen accent walls (now green)

1 color for the back of the door

Your stone fireplace is really lovely and also provides some clues as to color for accent walls in the living and kitchen area. I'm not usually fan of accent walls but think they work well here. They don't have to be bold or super attention grabbing.

I see there is a lighter color used in the home with the green. For a quick fix to remove the orange, which looks like to sole outlier in the scheme, if you can color match with the lighter cream the house will at least seem more cohesive until you are able to give the whole scheme a good thinking through. The cream/warm white seems to be one that will work well in the bathroom.

Well, the orange, is definitely bright, and I understand that you dont want that color. For some reason though, it really fascinates me. I would decide what color your want to put on the walls in the master bedroom. I like the idea of a bluish color, that goes well with the wood, and would probably paint that orange bathroom, the same color. That said, I think, that orange bathroom, might be fun to have. LOL

Those are all great suggestions! I’m hoping there is some left over white cream paint that they used in the kitchen to paint over the orange. Cat, I must get rid of the orange, every time I look in the mirror it clashes with my whole persona..lol. I’m true summer season and completely cool toned. I will be doing my makeup there. I agree, it’s a fun color tho. After I do the bathroom then I concentrate on the rest of the house. 😀
