Can you take a picture with the drapes open so we can see what that window actually looks like?

Upon studying the situation, I would suggest that spending money on that window might not top the list! You need lighting and an area rug, and try this rearrangement of the space. Ditch the futon thing for some other area of the home. Place your sofa directly under your three pictures with the round end table to the left. Angle the chair in the corner between the large window and the one to the right of the sofa. Place your sofa table centered on that large window, with room to close the drapes when needed; otherwise, leave them open! I’d put your largest plant to its right, forward a bit. I’d get matching lamps to place on both the end table and on the left side of the sofa table, and a nice large area rug centered in the space. Place the cocktail table centered and in front of the sofa. Use the pillows I see on the futon on the sofa ends and also one on that chair. Why not add a textured shade or a bamboo shade under those drapes or even shears so people can't see you on the sidewalk or Street then you're not taking away your natural light that can be depressing

Got it.. I’m trying to use something lighter than the existing drapes.. any recommendations on fabric blinds ?

Or layered drapes?
