Backsplash / microwave venting

I would like to know what the suggested order is of doing the following projects: Exterior venting of an existing, above the range Kitchenaid microwave that is not vented yet to the exterior and a backsplash that is going on drywall. It will most likely be 2 different workers on different days.

I would have the venting done first for sure and definitely before any finish work takes place and a backsplash if most definitely finish work.
