Spring come back

I’ve been away from this forum for some time due to life circumstances and illnesses, but am happy to report that the garden grows on…

Golden Celebration is really taking the lead with its spring flush, while Grandmother’s Hat perfumes the entire yard. I’m also enjoying the blooms of what I believe is French Lace, which was hard pruned this past winter.

Here are some pics. Enjoy!

Jjk - welcome back!! I'm glad things have settled down for you and you're able to return. :) :) Could that rose be Chandos Beauty? The last picture makes it look possible that it is. Thanks for posting pics of your beautiful roses. :)

Diane - we're expecting snow on Tuesday. Ugh. Winter will not leave us.

Glad to see an old forum member return, and compliments on the photos!

Spring started here in February, and thank goodness is still hanging on. It was summer-warm over the weekend, but temperatures are forecast to start dropping today, I'm glad to know. I prefer not to think about the coming summer. I admit I'd not love the snow rosecanadian is expecting.

Spring is the perfect time for a comeback. Love the clusters on Grandmother's Hat.

Thanks for your kind words. Re: cream rose; French Lace? Chandos Beauty? I’m not sure; it was planted by the previous owner of the house. It has big thorns but they are very easy to remove. The fragrance is light and what I associate with HT. I’m really impressed by how it responded to hard pruning!

@bellegallica9a Thanks for your compliments on Grandmother’s Hat! This rose is really amazing for its perfume and its been a happy pleasure growing it from just a stick. I think for potent rose fragrance, this and Munstead Wood have got to be my top two favorites!

@Melissa the weather here in SoCal has been very rainy this year. Literally every Saturday for the past month it has rained! This past Saturday I finally got some work done in the garden because it didn’t rain until the evening! I am looking forward to warm weather.

@rosecanadian So sorry for your winter woes! Can’t imagine living in snow. I’d surely freeze down to the ground! ;)

jjk - light fragrance...then it's not Chandos Beauty. :) Yes...but I'm cold adapted. :) :) Went for a walk today 15C/59F. Had shorts on...almost died from the heat. lol Tomorrow is snow day.

Melissa - yeah...I'm going to a movie on the day it snows...get away from it all. :) Four days that the roses have to stay in the garage.
