This rose sent a cane over the fence from my neighbor's decades ago (theirs is a very old home which I know has been there since at least 1910, and which has some old garden plantings which have survived the current owners, who give them "benign neglect" - ie, do nothing. Of course I loved it. Eventually, the neighbors managed to kill the "mother plant", by stacking a huge load of firewood right on the center of the base of it. When I figured out what was happening, I rooted it, and planted it on my side of the fence. The place where I planted it was in partial shade, and is now in very dark shade, so it has remembered it can be a climber, and climbed horizontally about 15 feet along the fence to find some sun, and has been happy for years.
