Penstemon and scutellaria.

Penstemon laxiflorus is close, maybe pallidus is another option.

Scutellaria integrifolia is the most likely in that area, I think.

compare the second one with trichostema dichotomum - blue curls.

Blue Curls flowers don't have hoods, just curling stamens, and the bottom lip is narrow. Scutellaria flowers have large hoods and wide 'bibs'. Foliage looks close though. Hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring in northern Georgia Old Forester. Georgia has quite a diversity of plant species. Do you have the Frasera growing near you? You must be getting pretty good with your botanical knowlege. Have you ever been to the stone hilltops with pools that contain rare endemic species like Isoetes?

I stand corrected. Have a ton of blue curls and was shooting from the hip on the foliage. Yes, its been a great spring and my native gardens are doing great, although they are in recovery mode from a deer grazing. They left no plant untouched except the bee balm. Just got back from the NE Ga mts. Yes, there is a large patch of Frasera on my plot. Will be back up and get some pics. In my younger days I tromped all over those mountains and recall the hilltop pools. Was more into fishing and timber than looking at plants. But if I ever get back to one I will be on the look for Isoetes.

The deer around here are eating my Beebalm and Tall Bellflowers. They haven't touched the Trillium.
