What are you doing Monday? 51324

What a week. I am looking for this week to be easier. Oh no. I just jinxed myself. What is up with you?

Do you think he used the ladder?

Hmmm?

Remember that little fuzzball of a bird right after Christmas? Here is her last photo.

So, what are you doing this week? I will be back.

Paula - Your Eagle seems to be growing faster than my owls. Spotted this one today, must be about two months old. I don't see them very often as they are moving around and the trees are leafed out, hiding them.

I have been a little busy weeding and putting some finishing touches on my new hosta bed. Added the blue pots with Liberty in front and Autumn Frost in the smaller ones. Think I'll line the edge with white impatients.

I hope you didn’t jinx yourself and this coming week is a better, Paula.

Someone needs to rescue that horse! And the Grand Canyon is worth visiting. It really is beautiful.

My last week was a weird weather one, but I found out that hostas and most other plants can take some snow and bounce back pretty well. Usually the snow is over with by the time I put out hummingbird feeders.

My oldest lilac took a beating and had lots of broken trunks. So it got an unexpected rejuvenation pruning. But it will be fine.

Pretty blooms laying on the lawn. I cut some and made a couple of bouquets for the house.

Hostas came through it pretty well! We had strong winds afterwards, so it was good everything had water, and we stayed a degree above freezing. There’s some cosmetic damage, but I don’t think that I Iost anything.

June before (more snow piled on after I took this)

June after, looking pretty good! (And yes, that's a lemon balm in the foreground, grrrr!)

Our average last frost date is days away, so it looks like we're heading in the right direction.

When you turn on a major news program and there is your city proudly displayed in the weather hot spot is possibly not what you want to see when you get up. It is going to rain. Alot.

I am ready. I have the condemned greenhouse tied down with new PVC legs and I am good to go again. hahaha maybe for years.

Olddirt how far back does your garden go? The new bed is going to fill out real nice. And your owls are so cute. Glad they are at your house as this is what popped up this morning:

They would make a nice morsel. I knew the geese were sitting but I had no idea the ducks were. The geese had 2 geeselets and moved to another pond. Ungrateful.

Sandyslopes I am glad that your snow is gone with little harm. So much odd weather going on this year. Your hosta in the snow would make a great Christmas card.

Hosta are going nuts and so are the daylilies. This is Mine2.

    Nothing great just mine.

I am happy to have finally gotten around to where most of the main work has been done. I still have repotting to do but, that is all the time. I do have a watering system here and there but now I think I want to be able to just flip a valve and go.

I have put myself on zero buy as I am full but there are 2 Marth Washingtons at Ace and I have to go back. Have a great day!

Wow, that horse!! What’s he doing up there??? Enjoying the view! 😂🤣😜
The Sphinx pic and Grand Canyon pic are eerie…..

Paula and old_dirt, your birds are awesome! Last year we had a Mallard pair at my neighbors yard and around a 2 block area, right in the middle of the city. I posted pictures last year. They have been here a couple of times so far, but not daily yet. It was around the 20th of May. They never had chicks here. Perhaps they came and ate here for a couple of weeks before laying eggs somewhere else. All your gardens are looking good in spite of the snow.

I was busy planting, planting and planting and potting, potting and potting!! Every time I go into Home Goods I buy a pot…. Hope I hope I’m not sorry com fall….. I posted pictures of received hostas on the other thread, but still have a number coming. YIKES!!

The bathroom……coming along. All shower tiles are up, floor tiles are drying, half of the wall tiles are up…..it’s getting there. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I’ve had a busy week with a backyard water feature remodel & now I’m moving some plants around. Here’s the before / after of our prior & new water feature. It’s now much more of a feature in our yard & the sounds of water gurgling are more prominent too.

Before - with no water running.

    during

    After

I’m now working on plants around it - I’d removed grasses from the back so the entire 8‘ x 8’ area was open to be able to place the basalt columns better. The flat rock pieces from original have been reused to cover the rocked base. There are 3 huge fir trees on property behind us that drop lots of needles & stray branches if the wind is coming from the east. The flatter rocks will make cleanup easier - just blow the needles off the flat surfaces.

Have to say I love the horse on the balcony!

Owls have such intense looking eyes!

Old_dirt, great looking hosta bed. That must have been a lot of work creating it. White impatiens will glow along the edges, and I like that you took care of the hummers.

Paula, those ducklings are adorable. Why can’t the rain space itself out so we get the water we need when we need it? Is that too much to ask? 😊

Debra, if they’re up to the tiling portion of the remodel, that’s good news!

Kathy, I’m sure you’ll be enjoying that water feature and the sounds. What a nice addition to your little bit of paradise you have there!

I did go to the Grand Canyon years ago..I never made it to Egypt..I’ve been to the Luxor(?) hotel in Las Vegas..it had an Egyptian theme..it may be gone now..

old_dirt..the owls blend into my trees perfectly too..what a pretty garden bed..

sandyslopes..you win for the craziest weather!..it’s wonderful that your plants are fine..

Paula..I wish I could say “most of the main work has been done”..I’m really behind..

debra..I love going to HomeGoods too..I bought mugs there a few weeks ago..I endured an exterior project last week..a new deck..what an ordeal..

Kathy..what a nice addition to your garden!..water features are beautiful..

demo and framing 5-9..completed 5-13..at the end of day 1 the contractor says “you had a big pile of raccoon poop in the corner under the deck..I cleaned it up”..turns out he dumped it in my yard!..disgusting..raccoon poop, pea gravel, concrete and wood bits..he put it on top of clean fill where the utility company dug a hole..I’ve been adding leaves, sticks etc for several years to build it up..so I sat there with a dustpan, rubber gloves and filled 5 doubled Target bags..I called him and said “I offered you garbage bags when you started working..why didn’t you take them?..I was here..why didn’t you ask what should I do with this?”..my answer would’ve been “put it in a trash bag”..he said “I was wrong..please accept my apology”..I was fake nice on day 2..😂

if he expected praise at the end of the job he was disappointed..I said only “I miss my old steps”..he told my husband..”I’m sorry your wife isn’t 100% happy..I’ve never had a customer so displeased”..I think he feels a little bad about it..now I need to ignore the deck and enjoy my plants..

my new bargain annual ($5)..sunpatiens..my first one..anyone tried these?..fyi - the pic was taken when it was dark..

KW, what a lovely sculpted backyard you have…. Would like a pathway like yours. My lawn is sooo uneven. It needs to be leveled out and a new border put up front and new border and pathway in the back. The lannon stone is getting too treacherous to walk on. Your water feature looks great!!

Ann, don’t you just hate it when workmen don’t clean up???😠😠😠 I have never found anyone (let alone a workman) to clean to my satisfaction….they try, but we have to do it anyway, don’t we. The deck looks very nice. Hopefully the raccoon will do its business elsewhere! I have bought those sun impatiens before. I don’t think they really did well in full sun though. Your yard should be perfect for them.
