Very vivid Iris! Yes, looks like Dusky C. Where do you order your iris?

Mantis, we bought some of our iris locally. There was a man who sold iris at the local herb fair in bloom with no name. We went to his house and bought some but neglected to keep track of the names. The most recent ones, Coup de Soleil and Come Away with Me, came from Schreiner's. I also just bought about 10 from Kim Klarner, known as Spuria on the Lily Auction. I bought a couple of dwarf ones from her last season.

I also just ran across a website call Iris Meisters. They are all sold out now, but they were offering iris at very good prices--$5 or $6 a rhizome. Many of them were the same ones I saw in Schreiner's catalog. If I remember next season, I will check them out. Their website says they start selling the first Saturday of April. They sold out in 12 hours in 2023.

This fascination with iris is rather new to us. It won't replace daylilies, but I am enjoying something to fill in the gap between spring bulbs (mostly daffodils here) and the daylilies.

Very good to have an early scape. I don't blame Bob, I like franrt plants too. And the iris are pretty...the dark blue is lovely.

Are the daylilies you sold seedlings or named cultivars?

Mantis, all the daylilies we sold were named varieties with the exception of one noid. We mow off unwanted seedlings and plow them under.

Bob has a good eye for orange. The cantaloupe orange Iris is a color I wish there were more of in daylilies - colorfast of course............Maryl

You gotta love those extra early daylilies! Your irises are so pretty. The blooms don't last very long here, that's why I've never had more than three.
