I actually like the first one as I love having that window area open. Number 2 has a blank wall that looks out of place to me.

#2 is much more homey. Seems easier to move around the room too.

I actually like number one, although there is nothing wrong with the other. Are those sliding doors or a low window? Love your coffee tables! Vertical blinds not so much. Congrats on your new place.

Definitely #2, but I agree the blank wall needs something like a small table with a grouping on it and pictures above it.

Layout 2 is perfect. But, place the group of side tables on the other side of the sofa to give you a clear walkway.

@DebbiePearson: Those are sliding doors for my balcony. I definitely agree that I should replace the vertical blinds. Thanks for the compliment on my coffee tables; my boyfriend actually made them!

I agree that I need something on that blank wall if I stick with layout #2. Perhaps a console table with a mirror over it?

Does anyone have an opinion on the table behind the sofa? That wall has that uneven inset wall, so it's pretty awkward trying to hang up symmetrical art behind the sofa. I was thinking maybe leaning art on the sofa table?

Love #2 -- seems so much more open & conducive to traffic / flow...although it's a shame to block the big window/patio door -- can you still get to it? Pretty kitty!

#2 for sure - you won't have a sofa standing in your way when you enter the room so it would seem a bit more spacious. If you have sliding patio doors then I don't think it is a problem to access them behind the sofa. Also, with #2 you have a better chance of watching TV during daytime as it might shield some direct light coming onto it (I know this is not common to worry about in interior design, but for me personally it is an important point). I like the look and feel of your space :-)

Not sure - both have pros and cons.
What about a variation of number two but put the cream couch on the opposite wall and then the tv where the couch currently is. You will then be able to fit more furniture with the tv, eg bookshelves and have the current tv wall free so you still have a feeling of space when you enter the room. Hope that makes sense.

I like #2. Any chance you could tell me your paint colour and brand? I am looking for that perfect shade of green, green is easy to mess up and I love the look of your walls.

That's understandable - how about moving that sofa table? Tried it yet? Let's see!
