Probably too late but IMO that counter with the lowers is not a good fit. for wall color why make life difficult just the same as the cabinetsbut in a matte finish.

Your 'rustic' hickory lowers may not be constructed as artistically using the wide tonal variations shown on this sample door. With no variation on the drawer front. I'd go to the fabricator with this door or image and inspect the cabinets before allowing delivery. That way you'll have no surprises. Please post pictures and manufacturer.

Thank you Stephanie! I, too, read that blog and that was one of the reasons I did not go with white cabinets, but instead chose the icy avalanche grey color. I still want to paint my walls a white color, but now none of the walls will be directly next to the appliances, thanks to the gray upper cabinets and refrigerator surround.
