Sammy has such pretty coloring! And how I wish I could share this rain. Almost every other day now. And not just rain but torrential downpours. Hopefully it drifts your way soon.

Your blooms continue to shine. Choral Fantasy is such a pretty color. I have moved mine twice but it continues to sulk. Love the vibrancy of Mardi Gras Indian and Windyhills Red. Gillian is always a sweet bloom. Another pretty post.

Kate, he is really pretty, and his Mama had put a blue collar with a little bell on him. He insists in staying here most of the time. Cats Ashwoods Inferno is going to bloom this year. I moved it to a good place last year, and it must like it.

Thanks, Kate. I wish you could divide that rain too.We have really been short changed and it happened again today; we were supposed to get a good rain but got barely a trace.

Weatherman here says we are finally officially out of drought that has continued since last year. It has taken a lot of rain to get rid of it. Today we were supposed to get a lot of rain, but just little drizzles. We may be barely out of drought, but would be nice to get a few dry days, and I think we are supposed to be dry Sunday thru Tuesday. Wish we could have sent a bit your way, Kay, but I am rather glad I won't have to listen that we are in drought when it seems like we are getting masses of rain, LOL! Your flowers are doing very nicely, Kay. I always liked Choral Fantasy, and it did pretty well for an evergreen, and I have heard several people say it was not hardy for them. Love the look of Purple Tarantula, then I saw it in a friend's garden and was not at all impressed. It was not as large as I expected, and color was not as vivid as yours. Nice to see your season going so well. Love Sammy!

I know how you feel about the rain. The last two times here lots of rain was forecast, my yard only got brief sprinkles. Pink Aloha looks so pretty with all its ruffles and that shade of pink! Rosemarie Louise is impressive as is Purple Tarantula. Since you mention height on PT, does that mean you are getting short scapes on most of the ones that are blooming? It looks like All American Chief may have shorter scapes in its first bloom for you. Sammy is adorable. I'd feed him too, if he came begging in my yard.

Thank you for Commenting. Nancy, we are supposed to be out of the drought but it sure seems as if it is continuing. Choral Fantasy is a beauty, thank you. I am hoping for rain today, but the big rain we were supposed to get yesterday never happened...just a few drops a couple of time...it wasn't even measurable.

Debra, some of them are stuck in foliage; Pink Ginham needs dividing, I know, but several really short one this year is surprising. Especially surprising since some are very tall...I can't figure it out since iot seems hit or miss. All American chief is in its first year so the shortness is not surprising, but that area probably needed more frequent watering than it got due to very insufficient rains. It is a large bloom and I that you for it.

Pink Aloha is always one of my favorites. It's what rose lovers might term an "exhibition" daylily. Grown for the beauty of it's bloom alone. I lost mine so many times that I finally had to give up.....That Windyhill Red is very nice. I'm picky about my daylily reds and that color in your picture looks beautiful. Does the color hold in the heat? I also like the wow power of Mardi Gras Indian..........Of course the visitor is my favorite. Love his face. Looks like some Siamese might have crossed his mother's path with his "mask" and blue eyes. That's how I got Yardley (my Avatar). He decided he just had to live here and refused to go back to his original owner (who wasn't much attached to him anyway). I wish for you to have a long relationship with Sammy (if it pleases both of you).......Maryl

Kay, what a beautiful collection of daylilies! I like so many of them. I like Pink Aloha and Choral Fantasy. I live Purple Tarantula (we added it this year) and Laurelwoods Spotted Tarantula. Windyhills Red is a beautifully rich color of red. And of course, Mardi Gras Indian is a favorite here.

Sammy is adorable. I can see why he comes to your garden to eat. Our cats get only dry food.

I hope you get some rain. It's been wet here and the daylilies are loving it.

I'd say that the Purple Tarantula is about the same color here. The flower can vary in size, but I agree, Nancy, that pictures probably lead one to expect a larger flower. Like so many trendy cultivars, it may not live up to expectations. Not the Alpha and Omega that one might expect. Oops, that's another "must-have" cultivar that may be overrated.

Short scapes--not a good harbinger for bloom farther north. We've got that huge foliage again. Mardi Gras Indian is nowhere near 40 inches here, but is very vivid.

Mathis, I don't know what size one considers large but here, Purple Tarantula is typically at least 8 inches here , and the picture indeed is the color it appears to be in the photo. It, however, has never been anywhere near 52 inches tall. I am a good bit farther south than you are which could make a difference.

Mardi Gras Indian is not near 40 inches here either but I really like the vivid color

    To Hoosier nan, Nancy,

I found our which neighbor Sammie belongs to and that his name is actually Josh. I know I will continue to call him Sammy since I have done so for a year. Sammie's owner and her sister moved into two houses on this block within the previous year or so.

The sister told me Sammy's owner knows he eats at other places since he lets ants get into his food. My house is not the only one he goes to when he wants to eat but he demands food at least twice a day here.

I agree with Brad on all the pretty daylilies. My goodness your garden is exploding with color. I do however really love the photo of Rosemarie Louise. Stunning color and form. Any garden shots yet?

Thank you Brad and JUlis. I do have some garden shots and will post them either tonight (Tuesday) or tomorrow. I had too many photos to post earlier so I need to do it again.
