Replacing a 36" gas rangetop with an induction cooktop?

I'm looking into switching to induction from our current gas rangetop, and I found the induction cooktop I like but I'm not sure how to deal with the gap at the front where the rangetop hangs over the counter that would no longer be there with a drop in cooktop insert. My husband is a contractor and is stumped, he said he could maybe have a guy he knows create some kind of stainless steel front? The counters are granite and it doesn't make sense to replace them.
I can't be the only one who has run into this, has anyone come up with a solution other than replacing the counters or having a double seam on the counter in the front?

Other than those that wdccruise posted, typically cooktops required different cutouts in the counter. Usually this change would require a new cabinet/retrofit and a new counter. Maybe you could retrofit the counter but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Or the Viking 5 series 36” induction.

Nothing is likely to be a perfect fit for the cabinet and the counter. You are correct, you are not the first person to ask this question. Click Here to view a similar post from 3 years ago. Good luck! Let us know how you deal with this if you get a chance.

Can you post an image of your rangetop and counter? We might be able to come up with a better idea for you. I would think retrofitting the cabinet with a panel that matches the cabinet finish would be a relatively easy fix.

I know about the other brands that make rangetops, but I hear not great things and they're like 12k lol

Lol? The Fulgor Milano F6IRT365S1 is $4800, not at all cheap but perhaps better than having to modify the cabinet or countertop.

Oooohh I was looking at the 47" one, my bad!

Still 6k in Canada..And I haven't seen any positive reviews

I'd consider the two seam solution in order to get a Miele or Bosch cooktop. Reliability and performance over looks. You'll need a segment at the back of the cooktop also. Because of the need for two pieces, black granite might blend in with the cooktop enough to give a unitized look. A front panel to match your cabinetry will be necessary.
