Exterior makeover

Trying to decide how to update the exterior on my new home. I was thinking of a dark navy/midnight blue. Shutters might not work though. Thoughts

Shutters won't work because your windows on the left are too close together. I'd do a lighter blue, so your dark windows will stand out and to coordinate better with your brown roof. Paint your garage door to match.

This is just my opinion and you know what people say about that- I have lived in three different cities and have never understood painting exteriors blue. Unless it’s a beach house (and even then) there are so many different attractive colors. Blue to me never looks natural and stands out not in a good way. Also, your roof appears to be a lighter brown. I’m not sure blue is the best choice for it. I would try something more compatible with nature. If you want color I would suggest a medium to dark green.

I love blue houses. I think they look great. If find the beiges and grays to be utterly dreary. My house is blue. It had been battleship gray (I'm sure the paint company had a more appealing name) and when we painted it, it was such a transformation. In fact, many of the houses on my street have gone blue. Different shades. I've joked we should change the name of the street to blueberry lane. The change to blue was a plus for all the houses, including the one with a brown roof.

@sigrid I figured no shutters. That brown roof may be a deterrent. There was a home in a very affluent neighborhood that was decorated "home of the year" by their city beautification club. Navy Blue (almost a charcoal grey/blue) white trim around windows with the inside trim black. The front door is raspberry pink. Absolutely stunning. Definitely getting some small trees and perennials for curb appeal

Claudine, I was also thinking of the Shewin Williams new Pewter Green. Lovely.

That’s a beautiful color. That would look great with a rich wood color garage door. It would also be stunning with copper color light fixtures/door hardware. You could pop a color for the front door or a wooden color with a basket of seasonal flowers would be stunning with that color. I could see pinks in spring, lime green hydrangeas in summer, sunflowers, autumn leaves, and pink and red poinsettias in winter.

@Claudianne that's a stunning vision. I am leaning more towards the pewter green. Sunflowers for sure. Lots of perennials.

@Claudianne with a door in SW brick or cavern clay. Wood garage door.

Yes those would be great. You could really go with any color with pewter. A dark coral would be nice too if you wanted to bring in a little pink.

That color is wonderful! Look at how it looks with the purple and white plants and creamy white trim on this house.

Olychick! That copper trim too. I am leaning more and more towards this. It has a grey cast to it so it doesn't come off as green.
