Your kitchen is pretty new and it is a nice space, so you might not want to do anything major. The hood is undersized. Replacing it with a larger one with more presence might be very nice - but certainly more expensive than adding shelves.

You could add shelves to the right side only. You have a gas range and you have to check the specifications for clearance above the range and to either side of it but you could use stainless steel shelves there.

I’m a tile person. There is nothing wrong with your backsplash, but it is a little plain. You could consider making more of a statement with it just on that wall.

Really needs nothing and open shelving above a stove is asling for the grease to end up there. I agree the main issue is the hood is undersized and really should be larger than the range, typically about 6" wider I believe and this will only make the shelves that much more prone to grease. This is also part and parcel to the gray/white/stainless steel trend, which makes things very monochromatic.
