Wall Color Help

Hello,

We are trying to decide what color would look best.

This is the floor.

The furniture we are thinking of getting.

I want to hang this on the wall. -I'm not entirely sure this is going to work in the room at all

I am thinking of a Greige color.

Maybe like HC-172 Revere Pewter

My husband is not a fan of greys but I think it is probably our best option.

You are going to have a lot of gray in the space.

    How about:

I would just do BM White Dove. Revere Pewter might work too, but it is good advice to wait to paint until you get the furniture. It's not hard for painters to work around furniture.

RP is not as dark as what they're showing in the ad for the furniture, but it is a medium tone. You should also be taking into consideration how much natural light the room gets, and then part of a decision like this is personal preference of course. Some people like very light colors and some people like darker colors. I'm sure there are off whites that would work too, like White Down and Soft Chamois. I think you're right about the wall hanging - something that red doesn't go with what you've chosen for furniture. Maybe it will work in another room.

I like the wall hanging piece much more than the two accent chairs and ottoman. Perhaps rethink those to have chairs that compliment the wall hanging along with the right rug. Once furniture is in place will be easier to select paint.

First, I'd get swatches of the fabric that your furniture will be in. I don't agree you should wait to paint until the furniture arrives; if you can get swatches, then you should paint first so there's no risk of drips on your new items. I'd match the blue or the white in the fabric for the walls.

This wall hanging is driving the bus.

I don't think the floor or your choice of fabrics will work.

Are you committed to the wall hanging? If so, (BTW, nothing wrong with it), consider going in another direction. Easy to do...chose a darker LVP flooring, and a different color way for the furniture grouping.

Wall paint? Light or a bit darker:

You can have a lot of fun with the fabric. Google Suzani for ideas for rugs, accent tables, etc.

I would go with neutral off-white instead greige/gray.

Honestly, this isn't something you can decide on a website. Technology has it's perks, but to decide on a paint color, there's no alternative really to getting swatches into the space and seeing how it looks. I've spent enough in Samplize's over the past several months that I feel like there should be some sort of frequent flyer program or rewards or something, but if I hadn't, just going with the recognizable colors everyone recommends or the ones that looked good in photos/online, I would have made some pretty terrible choices.

The wall hanging can go in another room. I just really like the character of the rug. It suits the area, this is near The Sleeping Bear Dunes national lake shore. The flooring is down and the painter is coming next week. We don't want off white this room is open to the all white kitchen and we really prefer a medium tone on the walls.

I haven't ordered the furniture yet but I need to order in the next couple of days. This furniture fits our space, looks to have a stain resistant fabric and is available to ship in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you everyone for your input and lovely ideas!

JP We will be looking at the samples in the room. It is great to have some suggestions on colors to look at that I might not have considered. I love the color palettes that people have put together.

The floor is a soft color as is the traditional furniture you have selected. The wall hanging doesn't work with any of it.

Perhaps there is a den for the wall hanging?

Change out the rug and/or throw on the ottoman to the color of the wall hanging. Paint the walls the light stripe from the hanging.

IMO the wall hanging is art and I do not think art has to"go with" anything . That said I find the furniture choices way too matchy and like a store show room. The sofa is a nice simple style , no to the 2 matchy chairs or the pillows . If you love tha wall hanging then use that color somewhere to make it the star. 2 matching chairs are better than 2 not matching. Your rug is chosen last after all othe ritems except pillows are in place . Wall color maybe match it to the sofa then choose a color from the rug for drapes and some texrured pillows also in a color from the rug or the chair .Rooms are best when not done all at once but develope over time in your style .

We have decided not to go with the furniture. I want to have the dark red in the wall hanging as an accent color in the room. I like the advice about the furniture being too matchy. It was an easy out. It also really locks us into a color scheme. So now an off white couch with performance fabric or a grey couch with regular fabric.

I like the off white but my other half thinks that the off white will be impossible to keep clean. This is going to be a summer place that will rent out much of the time.

I agree with your other half. There is no way, I would put an off white couch in a place that is being rented out even occasionally.

A quality leather might hold up better to families that might be renting, or dark colors that wont show the stains when kids eat popcorn or other things on the couch and wipe their fingers on the couch. Maybe even an outside sunbrella fabric, that cleans easier.

I have the same floor, and we started doing the walls in BM White Dove. Its a perfect creamy white without turning yellow. Very neutral for your design ideas.

Kids room for reference. South-West facing light.
