Show the contractor that photo and ask how much it will cost to cut back all the siding to let in that trim board. Was this detail called out in your design documents?

Thank you for the suggestion. I was wondering if it could be cut back instead of removing all the boards and adding. Unfortunately the plans are vague in this area other than having the siding and the tongue and groove ceiling. Thanks for suggesting the read over because I just noticed another item that they didn't add for the gutter-ice guard and aluminum wrap on board. So at least I have that in writing. I feel I want this fixed by someone else at this point. This has not been our first problem and I don't know if they are the best to fix. Hopefully I can find a skilled finish carpenter to handle this and one other fix needed to the trim.

We ran into this issue when building our porch. The contractor recommended putting pine on the exterior wall inside the porch. Made for a better transition and makes it feel more like a room. . Not sure if that is an option for you.
