Can’t decide on chairs for our white dining table

We have a newly built home. Our kitchen and living room share a space. The kitchen is all white with tile that is more beige with grey and brown throughout (was supposed to be grey and white, but this is what happens when you make a tile choice based in a 2x3 tile sample). Our dining table is IKEA’s Laneberg in white.

In the same overall space is our living room which has dark brown/grey/black (depends on the light - this room darker brown tones) hardwood, with a white fireplace, a beige IKEA Kivek sofa and two blue Structube Bixx recliners (if they ever ship).

I am having a hard time picking chairs for the table. Looking at black ”leather” chairs with chrome legs, white ”leather” chairs with chrome legs or beige chairs with black legs. Counter stools are also needed.

Attaching various photos for reference. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I think you'll be happier with the beige direction in the long run, gray has been overdone.

I would keep it on the light side, limit the black since your floor in the great space is dark.

IMO any arm chair will be too big and IMO a simple chair in a color what colors are you planning for acents in the rest of the home . There are tons of all leather chairs in colors this is just one idea

@Patricia do you mean arm chair in the living room or in the dining area? we definitely don’t have space at the table. The blue arm chairs are the recliners going in the living room. They are quite small. Apparently they are mostly sold to people with RVs. I don’t have a colour theme anywhere in the house. Its a small bungalow and this is our main living area with my dining room being used as an office and our bedroom (navy/grey/white) being the only other room on the main floor. The blue recliners are my only pop of colour in the living area

I mean in the dining area why not some color for fun Get arug with the blue and whatever color you choose for the dining chairs to add to the LR it will make the sapce feel much more cohesive if you do that . This is just one idea but you see how this brings the spaces together ,

Find another spot for the keyboard. It is taking up too much space. Then center the table on the slider.

Start with a rug for the living room. (Need the size of the entire wood floor, please).

This Ikea sofa photo from site, shows the color much different than in your home photo.

Love this rug with the floor.

On the blank wall in the dining area, bring in the colors of the living room with wall art. Frame in black (legs of chairs).

@elcieg the keyboard is only there because we literally just moved in and haven’t unpacked or moved everything to its final resting place. Its actually waiting to be picked up becuase its leaving my house entirely.

We will have a rug on the living room floor to lighten up the space. The picture on IKEAs website is off. We did see it in person before buying and my photo is accurate. Also our walls are painted offwhite, so it could be projecting more yellow onto the sofa.

@jan I’m sorry my house bores you. Its It’s two weeks old and only has builder paint. We can’t paint until after our drywall issues are addressed and even then they say to wait a year. All my furniture is neutral because this is our eigth house. I buy neutral furniture so it goes in whatever place I move too. This is a clean slate for me, and a deviation from our normal grey and white.

We think what you have so far is really lovely. However, we think adding some color with the dining room chairs might be the kick you need to make your home start to feel more like you want it to. Please take a second to look through the designs to see how we have worked some color into each of these dining room areas.

You can use beige Chairs with Black Legs. These will tie together the beige tones in your living space while adding a subtle contrast to the white table or Black "Leather" Chairs with Chrome Legs. I think these would create a sleek, modern look and pick up the darker tones in your living room, like the floors and recliners. Or maybe you can also try White "Leather" Chairs with Chrome Legs. These blend seamlessly with the table for a clean, minimalist vibe.
