Use pine throughout of change all to oak. Half & half will look like a swing and a miss. Trying to match stain colors on pine and oak, even more so.

Why match the color and width if you are not matching species? I'd go with pine in your kitchen and addition. If there is some reason you don't want to then for sure make them a different width so it doesn't look like an almost match that went wrong.

I think because your house is so old, having 2 differetn wood floors is not an issue especially since the one floor is original. It takes on a different meaning than a house built today with different wood floors mixed throughout. It has a certain charm. It also looks like the shared spot is just a doorway and not an open floor plan.

I think you could do a different species of wood floor. I would do a larger plank and make sure the color compliments instead of trying to match.

Of course if you can find a pine that is the same as yours ( which to me looks like a heart wood pine ) then go ahead with it , although staining may be tricky

Your pine flooring is so beautiful! Is it possible to get pine to match it? If it isn’t, I would try to at least try to match the width of the boards, as a different color, a different species of wood, and a different color/ finish might be jarring to the eye. I have a 100+ year old home and recently renovated my kitchen, and tried to stay true to the original style of the house.

the photo that Debbi showed was my old floor. That house was built in 1995 not an old house at all. We were redoing the floor in sections.

If, it is within your budget go with the matching specie - long leaf quartersawn heart pine @ $25 per square feet. It will take 8 to 12 weeks to order if, you can find a supplier.

Here’s my color matches pine and oak. They don’t even go the same direction. Also a 100ish year old house. I had the kitchen (pine) refinished and didn’t have to redo the oak!

I would just try to color match the oak. it’s not going to be perfect but it’s not open concept and this is very normal in a 100 year old house to have different kitchen flooring. i find a close match less jarring than a totally different color.
