looking for help identifying this rose

I’m wondering if I could get some help. I’m trying to identify 2 roses in my yard. This one has started to bloom so I figured I would ask about this one first.

I bought my grandmother’s house about 20+ years ago. She bought the house in the 1930’s or so and probably planted it soon after.

It has a strong, beautiful fragrance. I’m not sure what other photos or information is required to help with ID but I’m happy to provide!

'Parade' is a 1953 American introduction. Your rose reminds me of that one. The foliage and receptacle also look quite similar to that rose.

Perhaps other members who have this rose might take a look, or come up with something else. ?

I thought it might be ' Zepherine Drouhin', but I'm not sure.

ZD is my guess, too. I love your house and yard, Denise. I have many happy memories of visiting Boston and Newton, Mass. Diane

ZD is thornless and your rose isn't.

HMF says few or no thorns. The last photo shows few thorns. Diane

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far. I don't think either of those are correct. Parade Day has white stripes that mine doesn't have. And ZD is pink and thornless. Mine is definitely fuchsia and has thorns. (believe me I know) : )

    Any other guesses?

I said 'Parade' not 'Parade Day' which is an entirely different rose.

The foliage on your rose looks much too modern, dark green and glossy, not to mention rather too healthy for Zephirine Drouhin..

The dark rose in this photo is 'Parade'.. the light pink is a different rose. Bearing in mind this is in England, we tend to get darker colours.

    ..foliage on Zephirine Drouhin..

Oh sorry. I did a search for Parade and didn’t find anything but a “Parade Day”. I will do a better search! Thank you!

Whatever it is, what a fabulous rose to inherit! I am rubbish at IDs, but the foliage looks very glossy and modern to me, so 20th century rather than a older rose still in commerce in the 30’s onwards? One with the strong beautiful fragrance you describe.

Your climate and annual weather affects how much white streaks and stripes express themselves so I wouldn’t necessarily rule out candidates just on those grounds. I have several roses that have very marked white streaks some years and barely a hint in others.

My friend's ZD is definitely pink. I concede that's it's not ZD. Diane

Keith Zary’s High Society looks similar to your deep pink climber

Are there 2 versions? This one says it has a strong fragrance and seems to be a deeper pink. Very similar to mine

    https://www.classicroses.co.uk/roses/parade-climbing-rose.html

This one says little to no fragrance

    Curious

No there's only one 'Parade'... I wouldn't take too much notice of the classicroses website descriptions. They are often out of sync with everyone else, never updated and contradictory. Rather a pity considering their long standing reputation.

G.S. Thomas had it as ''good fragrance''.. Here it tends to depend on the weather at the time. Cloudy and cool = little scent even in the best of roses.

I don't think anyone can be absolutely sure what you have there, I just put it forward as a good guess, thinking your rose looks like something Gene Boerner might have produced, and is age appropriate for what you were indicating.

I do think you are correct that it is Parade or at least that's what I'm going to believe. Honestly, that name alone is something my grandmother would have purchased for sure ; )

I appreciate everyone's help. I have another one coming soon...
