By unhoned you mean polished? Or rough? Diluted dawn and a toothbrush sounds perfect

I am also a little confused about the ”unhoned” sides of your polished marble clock as HALLETT & Co. above. There is polished marble, honed marble, tumbled marble - but I’ve never heard of marble referred to as ”unhoned” - the opposite of honed marble would be polished marble.

Diluted Dawn and a toothbrush is a great suggestion.

Sides are sawn flat but have a rough texture—you can see the individual crystals of marble. Sort of the texture of an emery board or sandpaper. I was wondering if it was therefore more porous than honed/polished, and concerned it would soak up and hold any cleaning agent. I’ll try very dilute dish liquid—thanks so much for your responses.
