Name That Plant!Shrubs Mid-Atlantic Gardening

pic taken 06-04-24 in front of a Maryland apartment. Appears to be one shrub. Incredible bloom however few insects buzzing, flowers slightly malodorous. I looked carefully and don't see any signs of pruning, does this shrub grow this densely naturally? Does it make fruit?

I am used to seeing the privets treated as a hedge. For me, solitary specimens are unusual. This one found at the Poe burial site I am calling L. japonicum

Yes, Ligustrum japonicum. Some years they can sustain cold damage.

Got it, Japanese privet. This YOUTUBE has a respectable distinction between J. privet and Chinese counterpart at 2:30.
