Not Ptelea trifoliata. It doesn't have trifoliate leaves. You've found something much more special, Eastern Leatherwood, Dirca palustris.

Some people are sensitive to a chemical in the leaves and bark of Dircus palustris. It can cause an allergic reaction. I've never encountered it, so I have no personal experience with it. But I would handle it carefully, just in case.

Dirca fruits are said to have narcotic effects. Not much has been written about it, so I'm going to experiment using myself and then write about it.🤠🚀
