Sundays flowers in Indiana

I didn't get many photos today because of church. The weather was wonderful today--around 80 with low humidity and a brilliant blue sky. I fear, though, that we are getting dry. The last rain we had was little more than a bother. The grass is beginning to look dry but the corn isn't curling yet.

I thought you might like to see a couple shots of the seedling beds.

Bloom is still rather sparse. The pine windbreak used to be behind those Thuja trees. Our probably slopes down to the neighbor's driveway. This photo was taken near the bottom of the slope looking across the first year seedling bed.

This shot is from the top of the slope looking across the 3 year old seedlings.

Gryphon Chinese Fire is a big flower.

I wasn't sure if Positive Introspection would make it through the winter, but it did. It is from Dan Hansen from Florida.

This isn't really a clump but several Mayan Warriors that have grown together.

If I didn't know Spots and Stripes was supposed to look like this, I would think it were diseased.

Una de Gato was puny last season, but looks pretty good this year.

I don't know if War Horse will stay in the garden. We have so many narrow petaled red ones like this and some will have to go.

This is the only seedling I will post today. We are pretty excited about this one, not because of the flower though. We noticed early this spring that the foliage was variegated. Variegated foliage is pretty rare in daylilies so we are going to watch this one.

Wow on the seedling bed, Nancy. That is really impressive and that picture encapsulates how much work goes into what you guys do!

Positive Introspection is a pretty one.

That ”not” clump of Mayan Warriors is a pretty photo. I don’t think I will ever see Spots and Stripes in my garden! I see enough similar ones already!!

Your field makes my old arthritic knees hurt. I can't imagine planting all those fans or even walking out to see them every day.......Not a fan of the spots. Didn't we get inoculated for that in school? Do like the name and the face of Una de Gato. I hope it continues to improve for you. It's a pretty one.............Maryl

That seedling bed is an inspiring sight! I wish I had that much land for mine....they are squeezed in a few smallish beds. Una de Gato has been on my wish list for a while and yours looks great.

Wow, those seedling beds! So much work and fun combined. Spots and Stripes is ugly. Can’t believe somebody registered it. What will you do with it?

I envy you having so much room for seedlings. A seedling with varigated foliage is pretty neat! The Mayan Warrior groups make a striking display. Positive Introspection is a nice patterned one. I'm glad it made it throught the winter for you!

I like Gryphon Chinese Fire and being a big one just makes it better. Of course Mayan Warriors is a clump/ They are together and that is good enough. Una de Gat, this cat does look good.

I can see the Gavin Petit heritage in Mayan, as scapes seem to be growing quite horizontally. It is a trait that I don't dislike, since it avoids crowding. I rather like the color of the variegated one, though flower size is unknown.
