Perennials Garden Clinic Azalea & Rhododendron

Do i need to deadhead azalea

I removed the browning flower petals as they faded but didn't remove the seed heads, which are now swelling up, apparently forming seeds. I am thinking this would waste the plant's energy, which could instead be putting into growth. So, should i pick off all the seed pods?

Shouldn't they just shrivel up rather than produce seeds? I haven't seen them produce seeds before. I should have mentioned it is potted, so not as capable of taking care of itself as something established in the ground. It does live on the open balcony all year round.

I wouldn't bother. Same flowering plants will produce more flowers later if deadheaded, but I don't think any azaleas do.
