I use the liquid Tide Free & Gentle and have been pleased. AFAIK it has no optical brighteners, but read somewhere the formula changed last year so now I don't know.

Tide PurClean here. We do 25-35 loads of laundry per week. have done that amount for the last 4-5 years. Always good results with none of the allergen inducing ingrediants. We use the unscented version.

That reads like an advertisement for Tide products. Which I won't touch with a 10-foot pole anymore. Or asthma attack-inducing overscented Persil, for that matter.

Yes, I was disappointed with the extremely heavy scent of Persil -- it did a great job, but I couldn't handle the smell. And I say that as a Tide user.

The complaints about strong residual scent from Persil seems odd to me. I use Persil liquid on some loads, Cheer powder (until it runs out) on others. I whiffed a set of sheets and some shirts washed a week+ ago in Persil, all of it smells to me like ... fabric.

Another one who couldn't handle the strong, lingering smell of persil.

Tide ultra oxy powder user here. It must be different washers but I smell nothing on the clothing, towels or sheets when I use it. Same for when I use original tide powder. I tried Tide with a touch of downy liquid one time on sheets and had to rewash them because the smell was so overpowering. Just nasty.

I don't think any products packaged in big plastic jugs are worth the environmental cost. I switched to a laundry sheet that does a fine job on my clothes, but my clothes are not heavily soiled usually. I accidentally bought one that sounded like an American made product, but turns out to be made in China. I'll switch to Patricia's recommended sheets when my run out.

Surprised that so many use sheets. Reports I have read say none of them clean well. I'm using Tide Hygenic Free for colors since Cheer powder is gone & Tide Original powder for everything else.

Until last month I would have said I despised any Tide detergent due to the scent. I bought a white jug of Tide free and gentle. It seems to clean better than the house brand or Arm and Hammer I was using. When empty the jug will go into my recycling bin and picked up at the curb--I have it so easy.....

When empty the jug will go into my recycling bin-- Where it will go into a landfill. Just started hearing of these sheets. I need detergent that does not leave any residue due to allergies. Somehow I don't believe these sheets will not be a nightmare for allergies.
