Grandma’s Smile clump is gorgeous. I love the shot of Twentieth Century Fox with the daisies. Frozen Margarita made a nice clump. The Thunder Glow seedling is quite pretty.

What a lovely cloud of blooms of Grandma's Smile X Dearest Valentine ! The back garden was bright and beautiful! Thunder Glow X Seedling is a pretty one. Very nice post.

Sherry - I thought I had a better photo of the sibling Thunder Glow seedling from last year, but this is all I could find. This one had several different looks last year, including days when the color and edge were better than this photo shows.

Oh, I love the Thunderglow seedling--such beautiful color with that triangular watermark and green throat! That's an amazing clump of Grandma's Smile X Dearest Valentine.

How is Dearest Valentine doing this year?

The branching on Grandma's Smile kid is impressive to say the least. GS was such a slacker here, with the typical Smith short scapes (always just at foliage level in this case), along with mediocre bud count.

Mantis - Dearest Valentine got attacked really bad by grubs three years ago, and apparently again last fall. It's very short again this year with not many buds. When we had cool nights in the 50s, it had trouble opening. Before Grandma's Smile got too shaded, it was usually tall here with good rebloom. I don't think it ever had more than 14 or 15 buds. though. This year blooms are just above the foliage. I don't know if that's because of winter weather, shade, grubs, or a combination of all three.

mantis: I grow Debra's Dearest Valentine. It is quite a large clump here. It has about 7 or 8 scapes growing again this year.No budcount to report yet. It typically blooms here around early July.
