Way behind in posting, highlights, clumps

I've been very busy. This will be my last post for about a week. Then I will really be behind posting and looking.

Bali Water Color and Castle Pinkney

Belle Isle Sentry. Even though it started 2 weeks before anything else, it still has more buds left than most!! What a plant.

Egyptian Ibis duo

Green Inferno clump. Has done well.

Fiordiligi and Metaphor

Rob Cobb towers over everything with huge flowers & great shows often.

Bali Water Color x Sugar Magnolia, 9 inch blooms. To the left is Belle Isle Sentry and a seedling out of Laura Harwood.

Sugar Magnolia

Yellow Monkey finally clumped after many years. But look at the foliage; the worst in my garden.

seedling Christopher Russell x Orange Velvet. Tall and well budded.

Astral Voyager

I'll stop here.

    Actually, here's some more.

    Labyrinth and Strutter's Ball

    Lavender Dew

Strutter's Ball which has been almost black some days.

here it is almost black, which the picture doesn't fully capture.

Seedling So Lovely x North Wind Dancer

    July Fireworks, Karen's intro

    Full Grown with Hot Wheels

    That's really all.

What a great bloomer Belle Isle Sentry is for you! So many pretty lavenders - I'll just say I like all of those, especially your photo of Egyptian Ibis. It looks like your Ball WC X Sugar Mag seedling is doing well. I really like it's color! Full Grown and the So Lovely seedling are pretty too! I love seeing how dark Strutter's Ball was getting for you. Those cool temps make the purples so much darker.

Great clump shot of Belle Isle Sentry! The lavenders are so pretty for you. I always liked Strutters Ball but lost it one year to voles. You are correct-it can be very dark. I like the So Lovely seedling.

I like your grouping of different ones together in the photos. The Bali Water Color x Sugar Magnolia seedling looks very good. I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of the cross with Laura Harwood. Laura Harwood was not a favorite of mine when I grew it in NYS. Perhaps it bloomed so late in thes season when the temps cooled it didn't open correctly. Your cross looks promising.

BTW, how is your wife? I know awhile ago she was having medical issues. Hope things are better now.

Thanks for all the nice comments, every one.

Julia, my wife is doing well. She had surgery then radiation and is cancer free. On a hormone blocker for a few years, but that is going well so far. Thanks for asking.

Laura Harwood itself is very short so usually down in the foliage but it does open nicely here. I trim the foliage. There are 3 seedlings from it, one is always blotchy; the one in the photo is mixed, sometimes nice, sometimes not and only mediocre bud count; the third one, which hasn't bloomed yet this year, has had really very low bud counts. Not sure any will make it.

Debra, the Ball WC X Sugar Mag is most likely a keeper, such a giant bloom [8-9 inches] and tall and has done well all three years, & really increasing well. About 10-12 buds which is decent for a huge one.

Belle Isle Sentry is quite the bloomer! I also like Strutter's Ball and Yellow Monkey. I also like the green of Green Icon. Your seedling is nice and it's always great to get some height and a good bud count too.

If the Yellow Monkey foliage is the worst in your garden, you are having a much better foliage year than here. So much yellowing of foliage and rattiness here. It's the scorching heat, plus dryness, plus the extremes of above-normal temps and then a long stretch of cold nights.

Belle Isle Sentry caught me by surprise. But is it more wine or purple? Those early-morning pics can have a bluing effect.

Yellow Monkey here has a lot of buds and may show more than in prior years. I like the pic of Bali and Castle.

Way too many purples and lavenders to list a favorite. BUT, Belle Island Sentry would be at the top of any list, and Lavender Dew is tugging at my sleeve........On your Yellow Monkey - is it the daylily disease "leaf Streak" that is the problem?........One of my favorite daylilies got it a couple of years ago and I looked it up. Not that uncommon..........Maryl

Belle Isle Sentry really grabbed my attention. I always liked Strutters Ball. Yellow Monkey was always wonderful one year, near death the next. It finally died during one of these off years, and I won't replace it. Foliage always looked rough here after blooming.
