We are doing some remodeling of our recently purchased historical Victorian home due to some structural issues. Currently the house has a mixture of Victorian and more traditional styles. Our kitchen and dining room opens into a large formal room that has almost floor to ceiling windows on three sides. The windows have fluted casings with rosettes around them. On the two side walls, the windows are 3 inches apart from casing to casing and on the larger wall the windows are about 3 feet apart. All windows are 4 inches above the tall baseboards.

Our kitchen/dining area will have a grayish purple picture frame wainscoting with an ivory, gold, and silver wallpaper (combo image attached). We are trying to decide what to do with the walls of this larger room! We will have parquet wood flooring in this room. The room has two sitting areas, a small grand piano, and a wood table. We'd like to continue the paint color and wallpaper from the kitchen/dining room, as the rooms are connected, but aren't sure if there's enough space for the wainscoting in between the windows on the side walls or from the baseboards to the bottom of the window casings. The wallpaper is also a pretty large pattern. One option may be to just paint the trim and molding and use the same wallpaper without any wainscoting, but we are open to ideas! We are incorporating modern lighting and furniture with everything else staying true to the Victorian time period.
