Adding floor space to upstairs

Hey everyone- our new house has a funky upstairs layout. We are complete beginners when it comes to renovating, so I am not sure if what I am envisioning is even possible. Is it feasible that you could somehow use majority of the high ceilings in entry or living to extend the floor space of the second story? I would like to “even” everything out and add more open area upstairs to eventually make into a playroom. Thanks in advance!
