A floor diagram with measurements, windows, doorways and openings would help a lot. What are the adjacent rooms? It appears from limited view, there is a lot of space behind the sofa - any plans for that?

You kind of painted yourself into a corner with a sectional sofa that has a RH facing chaise that is too large for the room.

No one's going to like their viewing angle with this arrangement, but I couldn't think of any other position for that oversized sofa/chaise.

The mount also angles, so you might be able to anchor the sofa on the wall where the tv is, versus floating it. And if so, you could hang some art on the wall, over the sofa. Much better placement than sitting with your backs to the room and house entry, and also having the first thing guests see be the back of a sofa and a tv. If you have to keep the sofa in current position, I recommend a sofa table behind it, with maybe a couple of lamps on the sofa table.

I’ll chime in that the sectional is wrong for the room. Have you tried splitting it up? Putting the chaise in one of the corners?

The sofa is a tad wide, but it will be fine if you put a sofa table behind it. Maybe move the console table that’s currently below the tv behind the sofa and then put a more substantial piece of furniture below the tv that is solid and offers closed storage (drawers or cabinet doors). And maybe pull the sofa back a bit more. Move the chair away from the corner… does it swivel?

The TV is on the right wall but still too high. If the smaller part of the sectional has a built-in ottoman (can't really tell from the pics), it would be better on the opposite side so as to open up the view to the fireplace. But it's probably too late for that. A long console table behind the sectional would help a lot.

I titled my jpeg, "some rooms just suck".......and they do: ) for a host of reasons, and it's usually tv. viewing.

In a perfect world, if you are staying "forever, " you ditch the edge to edge carpet for hardwood get a nice big rug, and save your way to more appropriate seating. Guesswork involved with no dimensions.Couch , swivel chairs, an accent chair etc

We aren't seeing all your rooms. For all we know? This should become a really generous dining room, and there is a better spot for cozy tv . Who knows,,,,,: )?

The single biggest mistake folks make is a result of thinking every single person in a room must BE SITTING ON A COUCH to view a tv.

Get over this idea : )
