This is a Dutch Colonial, not a Cape Cod. That may help your search when looking at historic color schemes for the house.

Sweet house! You're not in Madison are you - theres a neighborhood of 1920s Dutch colonials that look so adorable all clustered together on the same block. I think it might have been designated a historic neighborhood - if it hasnt it should be! One fun thing I always like to do, try to determine what the original colors were - sometime you can find a place where the paint is flaking off or try gentle scraping or stripping with heat gun. You'd have to remove loose paint anyway prior to repainting. You wouldnt necessarily want to repeat the original colors, but it really can give you an idea of what the esthetic was then. According to Sherwin-Williams, the current colors are pretty good.

Frank Lloyd Wright was a big fan of an earthy maroon called Taliesin Red for trim. He had a noticeable influence in Wisconsin, at least around the Madison area.
