Clematis wilt - in its various forms - is most often associated with vines in the pruning group 2 clems or the large flowered hybrids (LFH's). Early flowering group 1 clems - mostly species - and late flowering group 3 (that tend to be viticellas or their hybrids) are typically immune or resistant.

Odd that your vine continues to collapse year after year. Generally, susceptible vines will outgrow this tendency towards wilt after they reach 5 years or so in the ground. It may be something other than the fungal version of wilt casing this. Most clem authorities also attribute a form of wilt to a non-pathogenic source associated more closely with root development and the planting hole restricting water uptake.

I've been thinking about wilt lately myself as some of my beauties have wilted this year. A lot of authorities sure do harp on it being a pathogen as they advise burning the wilted foliage. If it's a water uptake problem they're truly just wilting like anything else wilts from lack of water. Seems like type 3's would not be immune to that.

Others are doing well with very little water in June. Tougher than many other plants that can't handle a little drought. Anyway I commiserate, Rouge.

We have had one for many years but I wish it was more vigorous and I notice that the flower petals invariably get "holey"...chewed by something.

Thank you but your plant is much prettier. So far the blooms on my Kimi I'deara are spaced few and far between. Yuki puts on a better show but the situation I have for Kimi is not ideal.
