Darlow's Enigma and deer?

I order this rose from HR. It is to arrive tomorrow. I ordered it because it can take some shade (according to HR) and because it supposedly has lots of thorns, which I hope will keep the deer from eating it. At my old house I had Super Dorothy and the deer left it alone, which I assumed was because of the wicked thorns. When I moved to this house ever rose bush that the previous owner planted was browsed by deer.

So, if you grow DE, do the deer leave it alone? I would prefer to just let it do it's thing with minimal pruning, is this possible, or do I need to prune it? Super Dorothy was a literal pain to prune but it was close to my townhouse so I had to prune. I plan to put DE further from the house towards the woods and just let it go. Will my plan work or will the deer be feasting?
