White vs dark interior window

We are in the process of building our home and nearing placing our window order. Our exterior mixes creams and browns, so we’re going with the Andersen Bronze color on the exterior. I’m going back and forth between a white or a bronze for the windows on the interior of the house. All of the new builds in our area with darker windows seem to carry the dark into the house, and I love how it draws your eye outside, but will it get old?

I prefer the interior and the exterior color to match personally. Not a split finish fan.

My exterior black Anderson 400 Series windows, 2/1 "true" divided muntins and interior muntins are white to match the interior woodwork. I did find this photo of what I could have done...have the black muntins and white trim and it is very good looking.

I painted this wall a really dark color to high light the view like a pianting. I think the real question is what colors are you used to in the interior of the home . BTW that kitceh I did for a client 13yrs ago so pretty timelss IMO to go dark for inside .

We’re planning an off white color on the inside, so I like the idea of the darker window but will it be timeless, as we plan to live here for a very long time

We’re planning on no muntins on the rear windows but will have them on the front

Dark is as adaptable as white windows…all the other things that surround them determine their timelessness.

I have Marvin windows with a bronze finish on the outside and would not want them with bronze on the inside. All my trim is white so the windows came primed white on the inside.

Brown/bronze does not go with every color, so I think that a white interior is a more flexible color and more "timeless".

Most of what you see in images online is a black interior window. It is not the same as bronze: ) What is the full exterior of your home? Elevations and all materials? Pictures if you can , are helpful!

I think bronze on the interior could be quite limiting in terms of interior wall color and other finishes.

I think black is sleek and a great choice as long as you keep the wall colors more tame/neutral. I like the reference picture elcieg posted, as an example.

I agree that most of what we’ve seen is a black window on the interior, not a dark bronze, so that is my hang up - will it look like what I think it will.

Here are our exterior colors where the off-white is the main body of the house, the blue is for our bump outs and soffits/fascia, and the dark bronze is for the windows and metal roofing. This is a rough exterior elevation of our home, but not quite what we’ve landed on (don’t have that back yet).

I expect we’ll do something like alabaster or white dove on our walls.

I would do white on the inside. Andersen windows tend to have relatively wide frames, especially if windows are mulled together. I would rather the frame blend a bit with the wall around it instead of drawing attention to it.

Your palette seems to suit a bit different home. Perhaps more "cottage friendly" and a bit softer. Even something waterside. .....

This home? Seems to want something a bit more neutral and sophisticated.

Have you considered a Cool Roof for this house? There's a lot of roof.

I associate dark interior windows with Modern Farmhouse, which I don't see as timeless. It's going to peg a house to a decade just as much as harvest gold and avocado green appliances did in the last century. And appliances are easier to change out than the windows in an entire house.

At the time of our build the window up charge for black inside was 50% more. So we went with white. I’ve never regretted it once. I think black would have been great too but I’m content we stuck with white.
