Neither is wide enough.

I really find wood hoods get gross , change color from heat and stem and IMO a goo quality stanless hood is still the best choice

Since this is painted we can refinish paint eventually and proper cleaning should avoid greese and stain buildup

Thank you I have decided to go with option 2. I do not have an option to flip back to stainless steel hood. Reason we choose wood hood over stainless steel:- keeping stainless steel hood cleaning regularly is hard and due to gaps side cabinets , tiles would anyway have grease formations. Making a wood hood reduces the fumes to escape and since it’s going to be painted finish we can refinish the paint after few years.

It needs to be both wider, and deeper, with a high CFM fan plus a make up air system. IF you don't want it covered in grease. Because cabinets are not painted, and you cannot match an industrial wood coating.

It seems as though you are avoiding a stainless steel hood because you are only considering a chimney style hood. They really don't work when flanked by cabinets. However you can get a stainless steel hood that extends from one cabinet to the other, and you have no gaps or tile above it to be worried about.
