I forgot to add I definitely want some glass in the door to add some light to the dark hallway. I like the 1/4 lites.

Provia is definitely the way to go. I think there will be no issues with a shaker front door and colonial interior doors personally.

Cute house! Not a pro but would never think a front door has to match the interior door(s). What does seem important is doors complementing the style of the house. I think it can look nice when the glass in the door mimics the glass in the windows, such as the three lites across in photo 1.

I think it's fine to choose whatever style you like. I do like the craftsman style w/the glass panels.

I'd seriously consider doing a bold color choice. your house is the perfect candidate for a door that stands out.

So, I went a little crazy w/the photoshops of diff style doors and colors. I'll split it in two comments. lol

coral color is similar to the picture above. this door is almost full glass, more of a vintage style door. I also like the soft pink color w/the blue and white.

compliment the beds w/pink flowers and some blue pots

same color pink, but in a vintage style dutch door. I think this works on your home too

A deep orange/red , like the one pictured above by MM, would look nice with this style door

complimentary bold colors to the navy

with the blue shutters and white siding, this deep pink would be a statement. plant some matching impatiens or begonias around the flower bed

or hydrangeas

Or, go for an orchid color. I love this one

softer yellow

the day lilies would compliment those yellow tones.

Last of the bold color choices, turquoise.

This door style would really compliment your interior doors, if you think you need that . but as you can see, any of these styles pair nicely w/your exterior

Now for the more muted colors. similar style doors as above.

Thanks Beth! I love these ideas. I especially like the first one, the dark teal one. I had actually thought I would do a dark blue or navy, something that would go with the shingles. But the colors look good. Do you have any idea who manufactures the aqua door ( the last of the bold color photos? ). I like that style.

I would not notice that the closet door and the front door were different styles.

I like the coral door. Someone in our neighborhood has a white house with black shutters and a coral door. They put coral and white impatiens and geraniums in their garden every year. It looks fabulous.

no, I don't, but any door company could probably make this for you. Or, if you find a solid wood vintage door like this, you could take it to a glass shop and have the glass panels put in.

slightly darker shade done on a diff style of door. again, you could pop out the top two panels and put in glass. but I'm sure you can buy one like this.

I also like the lime/chartreuse shade, the orchid, the daffodil yellow, or some of the bolder, cooler gem tones. don't forget more flowers.

I see some shade in those beds. the coral impatiens would be perfect there
