Help with furniture placement!

Help! I am at my wits end with furniture placement in our living room. I do not have one wall that doesn't have windows, a cased opening or the fireplace on it. The room is 20.75' x 13.3'. I would love the fireplace to be the focal point with the sofa across from it, BUT there is no way to center the sofa on the wall in front of the fireplace because of the opening from our foyer. For reference there are 88" of wall space on either side of the fireplace.

I was thinking maybe swivel chairs on the end with the large opening because that opens to our kitchen and breakfast area where everyone gathers when we host a cocktail hour, etc. That way maybe it would encourage a spillover into that room because you could swivel the chairs around and engage with guests in the kitchen.

This picture was taken in the middle of a remodel so excuse the mess.

Our last baby just graduated from college so I am looking to replace all of the furniture, but obviously need to decide on a layout first. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

you can move the sofa forward and center it on the fireplace.

Mount the TV on the wall lower on the wall on either side of the fireplace. replace the mirror with framed art above the mantel, keep it simple.

New furniture??? if keeping the piece that the TV sits on... move it to the solid back wall, mirror and a lamp on it. do you need the drop leaf table? get a small table between the chairs, floor lamp in the corner.

Yes to swivel chairs near the kitchen.

Not many options....Show your dining room if you have one?? Bet you have a better dedicated tv room in there?

For now?and until new furniture... Lose one of those chaise over sized chairs.! Ditch a couple ottomans as well. Just way to much and too heavy and bulky: )

Show a living room or dining room if you have those.

What you currently have seems to work. However your TV console looks super dark compared to the rest of the furnishings you have in the space. We might suggest a lighter TV console, a much larger and lighter rug for the space, and then try adding a large piece of artwork over the sofa. Here are some ideas for you from some of our designs:

You might look at placing a sofa table behind your current sofa, and creating a small walkway behind the sofa. This will move the sofa closer to the fireplace and TV, and allow you to walk through the area without having to go in front of people watching TV. Swivel chairs seem like they would work great in the bay window area, and then your rug might not be too small. Below are a few images from some recent designs we thought we'd share.
