Summer Takes Its Toll

The endless tasks of watering and the endless scenes of baking landscape are taking a toll. We are headed into hotter and more humid--humidity without rain. I have experienced light headedness and headaches, so need to take precautions in this weather. We are still ranked as moderate drought, but severe is not too far away.

Tickle Fingers has looked good; has come into its own now.

Requiem for a Dream has great substance.

Boldly Going

Doctor McGregor's Garden now at clump strength.

Party Girl Panties do look as though they are tipsy airheads.

Catherine Folker is so striking in the garden with its green throat and cast.

Every Knee Shall Bow was looking good this day.

I lost my decades old Indian Ripple last winter, but as your picture shows, it's unique and I had to have it again. My new one bloomed early here when I couldn't walk over and take a picture. So I'm happy to see it shining in your yard. You've captured it quite well..........So many pretty ones it's hard to single out only one or two, but here goes. I liked Forever Everett enough to look it up. I'll be looking forward to winter reports because lately winter hardiness here does come into the picture as well as the usual hot sun hardiness.......Candy Bandit is a pretty one. I think it's the form that makes it so nice as well as the clear bright red color.........Dark Jubilee, with that simple white edge, is calling to me too...........Maryl

Not a bad one in the group. I ike the X Files. Appears to do very good for you. Wow, Boldly Going has an intense red color. How well does it hold up in the heat?

Take it easy and find a cool spot to rest. . We too are experiencing this heat/humidity pattern. Next week looks like it wil be the worse yet.

Yes, Boldly is startling in its intensity. It is partly shaded in the morning. I've been so busy that I haven't been looking at the garden in the evening. What can one expect to see after scorching temps, and I am busy elsewhere watering. The dog too finally is eager to go out. It appears to have great substance. Forever Everett is more susceptible to heat, as one would expect from a lavender shade.

I see what you mean by your RING NEBULA having more blue. So far, mine appears darker than your blooms. It might have to do with the environmental conditions. I've had natural water this summer and have not needed to do any additional watering. We are also hot and humid, but have had ample rain. I even have mushrooms growing in my yard.

I have had one rain event the past two months and it was not significant. Beryl gave me two or three short shower blasts that evaporated as soon as they hit the ground. Watering has become a way of life here.

Tickle Fingers does look good. Quite an edge on Every Knee Shall Bow! I really like Catherine Folker. They actually all look good which is a testament to your care, I’m sure.

So many wonderful blooms in my favorite colors. My favorite of all your daylilies from all your posts I am pretty sure is Doctor McGregor's Garden. Forever Everett is a great color, form and design. Probably second in this post. Tickle Fingers, Elizabeth Peacock and Forever Everett are also amazing.

So many lovely blooms. It’s hard to believe you have not had rain after seeing the photos. I understand working outside in this weather…. small bursts of activity and alot of sitting in the shade.

Great pictures of beautiful daylilies!! (I looked a couple up and yours are the prettiest). I do like every single one you posted. Must be so beautiful in your garden.

We had severe even extreme drought last year and daylilies were fine, thankfully.

Mantis, take it easy in the heat. I know that's easy to say but when your garden is calling for water, it's much harder to do.

Boldly Going is my first pick today although I do like Tickle Fingers. Your Candy Bandit is very pretty too. Ours did not have very many buds this season.

The photos are beautiful as always, Mantis. Please be careful...it is so easy to overheat in this weather.. Elizabeth Peacock is very lovely, as is Jubilee. Catherine Folker is an eye catcher.

Doctor McGregor's Garden is such a pretty clump; you were smart to get that one. Is Boldly going a new one? I do like it.

Yes, Boldly is a Hanson from last year. Very vivid bloom; will see what the performance is. Is going to be tall.
