Chlorosis affects some light colored bloomed roses more than any others in my garden. My heavy use of pine bark mulch may be the culprit. If you get Ironite and work it into the soil around the roses that have pale new growth that should cure it. However, using Ironite takes time to get into the substrate. Easier is applying Miracle-Gro for acid loving plants, about three consecutive feedings, about 10-14 days apart, at 1 T. per gallon of water. That should do it.

Also, young roses whose anchor roots are not well established in your native soil may show chlorosis. When the roots expand and access all the nutrients in your soil by fertilizer provided or by whatever means you provide nutrients to your roses, over time, chlorosis becomes less of an issue.

My Earth Angel was a chronic chlorotic foliaged rose, needing periodic Miracle-Gro for acid loving plants to make her leaves a rich, dark green.

On occasion I’ve seen the same thing you describe, MC, and I wondered just as you did. I used regular MiracleGro, to treat, in those few instances, and at some point thereafter, each time, things normalized. I’m not certain Miraclegro deserved the credit.
